RE: NRCS team to raid Durban, ridding the city of unsafe products
The National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS), in partnership with various stakeholders, will from tomorrow, embark on a two day surprise raids in Durban and surrounding areas to confiscate non complying products. This is part of an ongoing campaign aimed at ridding the country of unsafe products with the view to protect the rights of consumers.
Working together with the South African Police Services (SAPS), South African Revenue Services (SARS), Border Police and the Anti Smuggling Unit, the NRCS team will visit several malls and warehouses in order to inspect and assess the compliancy of products and subsequently confiscate them when found not complying with the compulsory specifications as set out in the NRCS Act No 5 of 2008.
With the beginning of the festive season, the, campaign, which started in Gauteng, will be intensified and rolled out all over the country to ensure that the safety of consumers is guaranteed.
