RE: NRCS to host the 9th Annual Building Control Officers’ Convention in Plettenburg Bay
Building Control Officers, building inspectors, engineers, academics, councillors and civil society formations will gather at the 9th NRCS Annual Building Control Officers Convention to be held in Plettenberg Bay, South Western Cape province.
To be held under the theme, “Urbanisation and compliance”, the convention is a platform where various stakeholders in the built environment share ideas with a sole purpose of implementing the National Building Regulation and Building Standards Act in a uniform way and further develop ideas to strengthen the act as well as address current problems relating to collapse of buildings and other structural defects across the country.
Delegates at the convention will discuss among others, impact of urbanisation on the building industry, progress of the development of the new National Building Regulations and Building Standard Act as well as Water sensitive urban development, Fire requirements for buildings, energy use and changes affecting the building code which were implemented this year to mention just a few.
Speakers at the convention include representatives from government, built industry, academia, civil society as well as construction and civil engineering bodies.
